02212020 GI Consult
I went to see Dr. T at Mercy Gastroenterology. We were early for our appointment and waited for quite a while. Her lovely assistant came in and took my vitals, discussed my issues and assured us the doc would be in soon. When she finally arrived, she reviewed my symptoms and history again, we discussed my past history of colon polyps, and then she made a plan for a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy at the U. First and foremost, she was concerned because of the hEDS. Us zebras need special methods of treatment because we are so stretchy. One of the more safe ways to do our colonoscopy is with CO2, which Mercy does not have the ability to do. So my doctor referred me to the U for that. In the meantime, because of my difficulty in swallowing, she sent me to the radiology department for a barium swallow endoscopy.
Wednesday February 26 I went to Mercy Radiology for the Barium Endoscopy. They did not find any obstruction, but did notice that it took a while for the barium to make its way down. She asked me about a low thyroid. I told her that my former PCP said that my labs were fine. Even though the lab said the thyroid was low. In case you’re counting, that makes 2 specialists who have asked about my thyroid. At this time, it’s a waiting game for my Colonoscopy and Endoscopy at the U.
