And just like that…

I am thankful that I was able to put fuel in my vehicle today and see the cashier behind the counter.  I met her a quarter century ago when we were both young and having fun.  I treasure her smile and impish grin.  She has a contagious laugh and a heart of gold.  After refueling, I went and spent time with my mom.  She is my center.  Whenever I need to feel peaceful and calm, her presence is the apex.  God has been so good to allow me to be in this place at this time.

I’m thankful for the time I’ve been able to spend with such loving and kind people who genuinely want to care for one another.  I’m grateful for being able to see a small glimpse of their hearts and know how amazing the grace of God really is.  I’m so blessed to be able to listen to people’s real-life happenings and share in their joys and help shoulder their burdens.

When my page comes up on the roll, I will happily lay all of this down and walk away.  Until that day comes, I want to spend every moment of every day living like I’ve lived this year.  Authentically, obediently, lovingly, and without hesitation.  Because in the twinkling of an eye, it will be over.

Just.  Like.  That.
