Ten Reasons 40 Is Not Over The Hill

Here’s a few reasons that I KNOW for a fact that 40 is NOT over the hill…

10.  I did not feel one bit different when Internet 40. In fact, it was more difficult for me to turn 30.

9.  I looked better when I turned forty than I looked when I turned 35.

8.  I have worked harder to “maintain” after forty than I worked throughout my thirties.

7.  I have two kids under the age of 10. That’s not what people who are this close to retirement do, right?

6.  My husband thinks I’m sexy.

5.  I can lift my weight in garbage, tired kids, laundry, and toys. This is not the sign of weakness.

4.  I have received more compliments about my wisdom since I’ve turned 40.

3.  I can go on four hours of sleep with my magical hair tie and good coffee.

2.  I have had more attention from my doctor this past year than the whole past four years combined.

1. I get to wear a special boot and have special medicines, and get special therapy to keep myself going strong every day.

40 is not over the hill.  Over the hill implies sailing along on a joy ride, having a great time, soaring and the giggling as your stomach “drops”.  No, 40 is like hitting a wall, face first, at a hundred miles an hour with no seatbelt. And it may take special shoes, a boot, new meds and therapy, but I will kick serious butt in my 40’s.  Because I’m no wimp. I’m just tired. And 40 is not over the hill!
