Today was a crazy busy day. Again. Swimming lessons, more baseball, playing at the school playground, walking, bike riding, cleaning out the garage, mowing the lawn, bringing in flowers, cleaning the house, laundry, dishes, supper and showers. Here are a few pictures of the ways I’m celebrating my mother’s day:
My mom always went and got Lilacs sprays to keep in the house.
I remember that sweet smell from childhood summers.
And sun tea made in my grandmother’s old pickle jars.

I enjoy drinking Nestea, because it reminds me of my Nanny.
More Lilacs in the living room. They smell delightful!
My daughter made me this sweet card.
Below, are the pages she wrote, in her own words. I have included explanations for things I didn’t understand and had to ask her about. Also, note her attention to detail. She sees lots of “little things” most people would not think to include in regards to subject matter. I LOVE HER!

My mom always says: Time for school. Really? All the things I tell her in a day, and this is what she remembers? Yes, it is usually the last thing she hears before we head out into the world each day, but I say way more than this little sentence. On the upside… she LOVES school!
My mom really loves: “Me”. I’m so glad she answered this way. In fact, I asked her who told her to say that, and she said, “I thought of it myself.” That right there, melted my heart! I’m so glad she knows!
My mom’s favorite clothes to wear are: dresses and high heels.
I love that she sees this in me. I wear dresses and high heels once a year.

My mom is beautiful because she: “Cooks my food.”
Okay, so I see someone climbing on top of something to put out a fire.
She assures me that “it always smokes when you cook mom. And that’s not the stove, it’s the bar-b-q!”

My mom and I like to: Play outside.
Yes. We do.
Yes. We do.
This is probably the first gift I’ve received that actually signals that I am truly a mother. And it makes all the homework papers, drawings and artwork I’ve saved and scanned and carefully stuffed into a huge tote this year look like junk. Because this, my friends, is seriously the best gift ever. Well, of course besides my husband and the kids themselves.
