Hahaha! NO!
So, after a hellish week, I was counting on a quiet weekend, just baking cookies and hanging around the house with my two darling, loving children, quietly sitting and making crafts. Perhaps we would sing Christmas carols or watch one of the many children’s Christmas shows on television. It would be more than a Norman Rockwell weekend. A pleasant, quiet weekend here at home.
*snap*
Reality: I am awakened by my daughter’s whiney voice and my husband’s voice next to me in bed. I hear him telling her to get to the bathroom, and then she begins to wretch. This is not a sound one normally associates with drama free, so I rolled over, to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming. It was just in time to hear my husband say “get to the toilet”, as my daughter turned her head and threw up on the floor, and as my son comes bounding down the stairs, we asked him to wait so that we had time to clean up the mess. When, about five minutes later, we got to him; we realized that he had pink eye. Looking into my son’s crimson eyes, I told him, “Dude. I was supposed to have a drama free weekend!” When he looked at me like I was speaking a language he knew nothing about, I realized that there was no chance of a drama free anything this weekend. And so, we put A1 up in our room, closest to the bathroom. Cheese was able to roam around the house, playing with his toys and running from the dog. It was a relatively drama free day, aside from the sickness and pink eye. By noon, A1 was up and ready to eat. We gave her some toast, and she wanted more. We told her no, and that she would be able to have more when we all woke up from nap, because we wanted the little bit she did eat to settle in her tummy. And it seemed to work. After we all took a nap, she had more toast and ate some supper with us at the table. They were bathed and placed into clean beds for the night.
This morning, when they woke up, it was Cheese who was barfing. A1 was chirpy, but reserved. After cleaning up the mess from Cheese, and discovering the amount of sickness on the handrail to the stairs, I decided to do a little deep cleaning. By the time I scrapped the wooden railing up and down three or four times, and bleached and sanitized it, and the wall around it, I felt so gross! It’s no wonder the sickness has been going around and around our house this year. I hope I have solved the issue, and that we are on our way to a healthy new year!
Just to finish up the weekend… Naptime was sweet, had a little visit with a good friend and his special lady, more laundry, and cleaning. We are now all cuddled up in different locations with our electronics. I love drama free weekends!
