The You Tube Video That Saved Christmas?

So, as you know from this post, I have had serious reservations about the Santa thing.  While I do believe in Christmas Miracles, and I do have the Christmas spirit; I wrestle with Santa, because I never want to lie to my kids.  I always want them to know that they can count on me for the truth.  While looking for a movie for the kids to watch while we drove to town today, I stumbled upon the video below.  It is a very cute video, and it really tells the story of how Santa Claus came out of the Saint Nicholas story.  As they watched it, A1 was taken by the fairies and elves.  She really liked the story line, and I listened as we drove along.  As it neared the end, we talked about the real Santa.  The Santa that just wanted to help the poor children to have a little gift in their life.  Not this commercialized Santa, who brings tons of gifts to all children.  It was a nice talk, and I think she understands it well.  It gives me a little peace, knowing that I am teaching her to know the “true” story, and not just folklore.  It also goes in line with my teaching the kids why we have traditions, and not just doing them over and over with no real reason.  I hope you’ll have an open mind and watch this little story, or at the very least, research Santa, and know why there is such a legend. :)  And now, I can wish you a holly, jolly Christmas, with more Christmas spirit than ever.  For the real and true reason of the season is Jesus, and the good, jolly old Saint Nicholas is an okay guy too!
