Last night, my five year old lost her tooth. It was her first tooth lost, and traumatic. She told me very calmly. But then became nervous and started to cry. When she realized that her mouth was full of blood, and saw herself in the mirror, she started to panic. Then, it was full on freakdown for about five to ten minutes. She wasn’t enjoying my cheers and she wasn’t returning my high fives. She was tearful and nervous. When she calmed down enough to understand that the tooth was gone, but there wasn’t pain, the blood had stopped, and she was going to live, she became happy. She started to smile and wanted to call her teacher and grandparents, to tell them what had happened. She was a very happy girl then.
