*UPDATE* 2/1/09 9:02 am:
Mama SeWELL had a great question, so here’s the answer (sort of).
The way to prevent the loss of your images is to NOT delete your blog! Seriously.
I was deleting some of the old posts, and changing some of the links. My posting tab was not displaying correctly, and i thought at first it may be related to my custom domain. It was not showing drafts i had saved to go back and edit later, and some other random mysterious things (mostly the way my dashboard displays). These anomalies did not affect my ability to blog, just to save as a draft and edit later. However, when i deleted some of my older posts, my posting tab started displaying correctly again. I was able to see all those drafts i had saved (wonderful posting ideas), and even to go in and edit them.
So i thought i’d keep on going. Eventually, what i decided was that i would only keep a month of posts up. After all, i had saved my blog template and exported the xml file of all my posts onto my hard drive. I could always re-import the blog if i changed my mind, right?
When you delete a post with photos, it offers you the option to “Keep” the photos or to “Delete” them. Well, at first i was deleting them, but then it was too time consuming, so i decided to “Keep” them, and just delete the post.
All my blog photos are uploaded to a Picassa folder, so they’re not really “gone” per say, the links to the posts are just missing. So, in order for the photos to display, i’d have to upload them again, thus re-linking the images.
It wasn’t anything that happened by accident, there was no Google error, it was many “little” steps that caused the “loss” of the images. Again, it’s just a linking issue, but i just don’t have the time to go back and relink (upload) all those images right now. Maybe someday, and i hope my little experiment will help someone in the future, and prevent this from happening to them.
This is how i learn… obviously, the hard way!

ORIGINAL POST:
Okay, so i bet you were wondering what happened! Well, so am i… well, kinda.
Let’s see… i had scheduling overload, sad things happen to a very beloved friend of mine, more schedule overload, work, work and more work, energy stores depleted almost below recovery, more work, and then, just when i thought i’d take a break from all that mess and work on arranging my blog, cleaning it up and making it more “pretty”… i lose every one of my images!
Trying to repair the error, i turned my blogg “off”, and set off to find said files… however, once removed, they can not be returned by “importing” a saved file or template. Oh joy. So, what that would mean is that i would have to upload every photo i’ve ever posted on this site.
No thank you.
If you want to read previous posts, you’ll just have to use your imagination! :)
Sorry.
At any rate, maybe you thought you might have missed me, but your aim is bound to improve!
i’m back!
