10 Things To Do With Free Time

Ah Yes, Free Time. Time when there is no one around, and i have everything all to myself.

10. Blog – my number one choice of things to do when i should be doing other things!
9. Edit photos/create buttons, banners and play with HTML – second choice, and this is good for my work too. Staying on top of the latest “it” thing and the hottest web trends only adds to my repitoire.
8. Watch TV – the number one way to shut off my brain. Sit and stair at this crazy invention which does nothing but suck the time and life out of the day! But dang, it can get addictive!
7. Read a book or magazine – this used to be the way i consumed all of my non-work/non-husband/non-church, etc. time. However, since the birth of my daughter, i have become frustrated at having to read an entire chapter over and over again because i either lose my place or forgot everything i learned the last time i was able to read.
6. Go shopping – while i can shop with my child, i have come to realize that the one thing i despised as a non-parent was something i should have been enjoying. No clocks, no diapers, no feedings, no need to find a bench or stroller, no screaming, melting down or packing seventy kazillion tons of stuff to make the experience easier, only to find that there is no room left in the vehicle for any item i may want to purchase. Except the earmuffs i picked up and stuck on my head to muffle the meltdown in the store!
5. Eat junkfood – My entire family thinks we’re weird because we snack so much. They’ve even called us “snackers”. Yet, somehow i seem to enjoy it more when no one’s around. i can crunch my M&M’s however i want, and the best part? No sharing!
4. Talk on the phone – yes, i can do this anytime, however, i’ve been told (by no short of seventy kazillion people) that i am loud when i talk on the phone. So, doing this when i’m alone ensures no comments from the peanut gallery!
3. Beautification – aaahhhhh the days of waxing, manicures, pedicures, getting nail extensions put on, frosting, foiling, colors, cuts, perms, straighteners, facials and massages… they are all gone. At this point, i’ll settle for brushing my teeth and plucking!
2. Take a long hot bath – hot water and lots and lots of tiny little bubbles… there are no problems/stress/deadlines/responsibilites in the bathtub.
1. Sleep – a function my body needs due to the fibro, however, i seem to get less sleep now than i did pre-child. At this point, i know a crash will be oncoming, however, i don’t care, because if i sleep, then i have no time to do the nine other things on my list, OR the seventy kazillion other responsibilities in my daily life!

*Wait… i’m a mom… there is no such time as “free” time, “extra” time is imaginary, and where is my husband with our child??? The silence is creeping me out, and i’m worried that they will never come back! What if they stay gone all day? How will i survive without them??!!*
