Today was the day we needed to go back for another NST and see whether or not we would be admitted to the hospital. When we arrived, we were both concerned, but hopeful. When we walked up to the Labor & Delivery floor, we saw Miss Edith, who is one of our favorite nurses. i can’t help myself… there are people i am immediately comfortable with, and there are people i must warm up to. Miss Edith was an immediate one… she was just so nice and wanted to make sure i understood what was happening at each NST. In case you’re wondering, NST means Non Stress Test. This is where you lay in bed and they monitor the baby’s heart rate, movements, your contractions and blood pressure. Then, when they are satisfied, a doctor comes in and uses ultrasound to measure the amniotic fluid. After measuring the fluid, they determine the health of the baby. If you are above 8, life is good. If you are between 6 & 8, they get concerned, and if you are 5 or below, you are getting admitted to the hospital! So, since Tuesday didn’t go well, we were prepared to have to stay at the hospital today. i have packed all the bags, and showed Beef where everything is, so that he can get it if he needs to. i don’t want to carry things in the car, because some of it will melt, so he can just go get it if he needs to… i’m sure if i get admitted, it will take a little while before anything big happens! Of course, on the same hand, i don’t want him to leave me… so it’s something to think about…
ANYWAY… (me getting sidetracked again) Miss Edith was waiting for us, and hooked me up to the monitors and let us go on for 20 minutes before she came in and told us how good of a girl A1 was being today! As she was taking off the monitors, the doctor came in, the same doctor that caught the low fluid on Tuesday. She moved the ultrasound around and by the second quadrant, we were above 5, which meant that we got to go home! YAY! GOOD JOB A1! :)
So, the new plan is to go in on Tuesday, have the ultrasound to see how big or little she is, so that if we need to have pediatrician doctors in the room when she arrives, they can be there. I’ll have another prenatal visit after the ultrasound and another NST after the prenatal visit. We’ll be there all day!!! But if everything goes well, we get to go home again until Thursday, when we’ll do it again! If not, well then, i guess our little princess will be here Tuesday.
We’re hopeful, and as long as i continue to feel her move, i am happy. If something changes, i’ll be in that Labor and Delivery room ASAP! Until Tuesday, we won’t know anything further, but will keep you updated if she decides to come before then.
