After the baby showers, i kind of just put everything in a spot in the nursery and guest room, and walked away from it. i have been tired lately, and it seems there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. Of course, there might be more hours in the day if i didn’t need half of them to sleep! After one of our heart-to-hearts, Beef reminded me that we hadn’t even packed a bag to go to the hospital, and that time was drawing near to have our little miracle girl in the world. So i thought I’d go in the nursery and start organizing everything, and pack a bag for the two of us. While in the nursery, i realized that we are really going to have a baby! i know you’d think by now that it would “register” in my head, but it hasn’t. i don’t know why, but it just doesn’t occur to me that we are going to have a baby in our home, a baby that will be with us 24 hours a day, our own flesh and blood… heck, there are days i forget I’m pregnant! i know THAT sounds impossible, but like i said, I’ve only gained 4 pounds, and i haven’t been pregnancy sick or anything… other than when she moves, the need for more sleep, and the fact that the floor keeps getting lower and lower, i don’t notice any difference in my body or life. Some days, i walk by the mirror and shockingly look at my belly… as if it just appeared there five seconds ago! We waited soooo long for this, and now it’s so hard to wrap my mind around! God is good.
Anyway…
The first thing i had to do in the nursery was “dig out”. i had to move everything out so that i could get to some clean space so that i could bring things in one at a time and organize them. i had been washing clothes as we received them, so the clothes were put away, but after the showers, there was no room for everything we had received. So i organized the clothes, put them in month order, and the bigger clothes, i put in a bin so that they weren’t taking up drawer space. After the clothes, i started with the books and then worked on her scrapbook and keepsakes. Then i arranged her changing table and big stuff like the swing and rocking chair… Finally, after three hours, i was able to start packing a bag for each of us girls to use in the hospital. While packing the bags, i thought again, of how bizarre this is… i will be leaving the house pregnant, the same old me, but i will be returning a mother.
